Meaning of “Patent Pending”

“Patent Pending” (also written as “pat. pend.” or “patent applied for”) is a legal designation used when an inventor has filed a patent application, but the government has not yet granted the patent.
This phrase can be placed on a product, system, card, process, or technology as soon as the application is officially filed with the patent office.
